TEEN JOB FAIR
Milwaukee Public Library

On April 19th, 2016 from 4:30-7:00pm, over 750 estimated teens between the ages of 15 and 19 attended a job fair specifically targeted towards their age group at the Forest Home Library. The response to the event was so positive, it has since been replicated biannually between 12 libraries in Milwaukee county using the template and materials I created for the event. I presented reproduction instructions at the 2015 Wisconsin Library Association Conference and facilitated a webinar on teen programming in January 2017 for Wisconsin’s Department of Public Instruction, inspired by this event.

YOUTH CORNER STORE CAMPAIGN
Partnership with Milwaukee Department of Neighborhood Services, Milwaukee Police Department, & Habitat for Humanity

In 2015 youth from Westside Academy II embarked on a campaign to make the corner stores in their neighborhood safer. Through engagement with their Alderman, police department, local neighborhood organizations, and school, they forced the loss of one store’s liquor license (a major crime stimulant) and created real, crime-reducing changes in three additional stores. In the process, they were trained in Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design survey tools and transformed the abandoned site of a double homicide into a beautiful public art piece. The youth received the mayor’s 2015 Youth Leadership Award (see left). I served as Lead Organizer for this campaign from conception to evaluation and facilitated all youth activities.

STRATEGIC PLANNING, PIERCE COUNTY MASTER GARDENERS
Washington State University

Beginning summer 2020, I began the strategic planning process for the country’s inaugural Master Gardener Program in Pierce County, Washington. The plan developed in Pierce County will serve as the foundation for all other counties in the state. The process (ongoing) involves developing standardized procedures and terminology, goal setting, outward-facing program booklets, and program evaluation from internal and external stakeholders.

From 2016-2019, I featured one Franklin Public Library patron on the library’s website and Facebook page every Monday as part of a “Humans of Franklin” series. Using
snapshot portraits and stories, the campaign created a scrapbook of the people who live, work, and play in Franklin. Its first local celebrities: Sophia and Adrianna.

ESCAPE FROM H.H. HOLMES’ CASTLE
Ask Me About My Cat Productions | Milwaukee, WI

LOGLINE: Guests have unknowingly signed a lease with H.H. Holmes, the notorious serial killer of the Chicago World’s Fair, and now must escape from his torture castle or suffer at his hands.

“Escape from H.H. Holmes’ Castle” is an interactive horror escape room designed to engage and intrigue safely during the COVID-19 pandemic. Using traditional escape room clues, clues from guests in other rooms, and clues from interactions with actors, guests must escape from the castle (both from their room and the building itself) via the entrance in which they arrived without being caught by H.H. Holmes. I serve as Lead Producer and Writer for this experience.
